Key Programme Information

This postgraduate certificate course in Workplace Wellness aims to equip students with the skills and
knowledge needed to foster a culture of well-being within organisations. Participants will explore the
connection between work, health, and well-being and develop strategies to create and implement
workplace wellness programs tailored to organisational needs.

Through this course, students will gain an understanding of mental and physical health in the workplace, critically assess wellness interventions, and design wellness programs that benefit both individuals and organisations.

Trinity College is uniquely positioned to lead in the field of workplace wellness by providing a rich
environment that supports both academic and practical learning. With a strong commitment to
fostering well-being, the College promotes organisational health and sustainability through research-backed programs that drive positive change.

The College supports the creation of healthy work environments by offering resources, expertise, and
collaboration opportunities with industry leaders. Our goal is to empower students with the tools to
influence workplace culture, promote well-being, and enhance organisational effectiveness, helping
graduates thrives in the modern workplace.

Module 1: Fundamentals of Workplace Wellness (10 ECTS)

This module sets the context for the programme by exploring the role of health promotion within the workplace and the nature of wellbeing. We will explore the business case for wellness programmes and the fundamental characteristics of successful wellness programmes based on research and case study examples from leading organisations.

Module 2: Organisational Culture (10 ECTS)

This module explores what a culture of health looks like and how to establish and build one, or engage in a change process towards one. Students will examine the critical role of leadership support, strategic communication, the social and physical environment, and policies and practices in building a culture of health. These critical factors will be explored using evidence from benchmarking research and case studies from award-winning organisations in the area of employee wellness internationally and within Ireland.

Module 3: Project and Policy Implementation (10 ECTS)

In this module, students will review the current policy and legislation landscape in Ireland through a workplace health promotion lens. Individually they will craft a workplace wellness operating plan and in project teams, they will develop solutions for a real-world challenge being faced by a host organisation.

Who Applies

Our applicants are experienced professionals who recognise that workplace wellness is no longer a 'nice to have', but a strategic priority. They come from Human Resources, health and safety, psychology, education, finance, hospitality, construction, technology, public service and the voluntary sector.

Many hold prior postgraduate qualifications and bring years of leadership, consultancy or operational experience. Some are shaping culture within rapidly growing organisations; others are founding HR or wellbeing consultancies, leading schools, supporting frontline services, or driving employee experience in global firms.

What unites them is a desire to influence systems, policy and culture, not just deliver isolated initiatives. They are practical, purpose-driven and ready to embed evidence-based wellness into the fabric of organisational life.

Why They Choose This Course

Applicants are drawn to the programme’s clear focus on aligning wellbeing with organisational strategy and leadership. They want robust, research-informed frameworks that move beyond surface-level activities and 'tick-box' programmes.

Many have witnessed burnout, poor culture, or inadequate support structures first-hand and are motivated to create lasting change. They value the course’s emphasis on policy development, senior stakeholder engagement, legislative awareness and real-world project work. For some, this certificate strengthens an existing HR or management career. For others, it marks a deliberate pivot into workplace wellness.

All see Trinity’s academic depth and practical orientation as the foundation they need to design credible, sustainable programmes that enhance both employee wellbeing and organisational performance.
