This Postgraduate Certificate in Workplace Wellness empowers students with the skills necessary to develop effective programmes that align an organisation’s values to employee wellness and ensure engagement and buy-in from senior management and staff alike. The course offers managers the opportunity to up-skill in the area of workplace wellbeing and take up a variety of roles related to employee wellness. It may also be an excellent addition to a primary degree in HR or Business for those wishing to re-enter the workforce or re-orient their careers.

This postgraduate certificate course in Workplace Wellness aims to equip students with the skills and
knowledge needed to foster a culture of well-being within organisations. Participants will explore the
connection between work, health, and well-being and develop strategies to create and implement
workplace wellness programs tailored to organisational needs. Through this course, students will gain
an understanding of mental and physical health in the workplace, critically assess wellness
interventions, and design wellness programs that benefit both individuals and organisations.

Module 1: Fundamentals of Workplace Wellness
This module sets the context for the programme by exploring the role of health promotion within the workplace and the nature of wellbeing. We will explore the business case for wellness programmes and the fundamental characteristics of successful wellness programmes based on research and case study examples from leading organisations.
Module 2: Organisational Culture
This module explores what a culture of health looks like and how to establish and build one, or engage in a change process towards one. Students will examine the critical role of leadership support, strategic communication, the social and physical environment, and policies and practices in building a culture of health. These critical factors will be explored using evidence from benchmarking research and case studies from award-winning organisations in the area of employee wellness internationally and within Ireland.
Module 3: Project and Policy Implementation
In this module, students will review the current policy and legislation landscape in Ireland through a workplace health promotion lens. Individually they will craft a workplace wellness operating plan and in project teams, they will develop solutions for a real-world challenge being faced by a host organisation.

Brian is a well-being educator, speaker and adviser, empowering Irish organisations to promote and sustain wellbeing within their workplaces. He is the founder of the Workplace Wellbeing Ireland community and is the course lead for the Postgraduate Certificate in Workplace Wellness.

Funding Eligibility
Funding eligibility is determined according to the guidelines on the Springboard+ website. Please review the official Springboard+ site for full details on available funding and who qualifies.
Academic Qualifications
To be eligible, applicants must normally hold:
- A Level 8 honours degree (or equivalent) in any discipline from a recognised third-level institution.
References
You are required to submit two references:
- One professional and one academic
- If you graduated more than 8 years ago, you may submit two professional references instead.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
If you do not meet the standard academic entry requirements, you may still be considered through Trinity’s Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process. This allows us to assess relevant academic and professional experience or other qualifications as equivalent. Applications under RPL will be evaluated in line with Trinity’s official RPL policy and procedures.
English Language Requirements
All applicants whose first language is not English must provide official evidence of English language proficiency. This course requires Trinity Band B (Standard entry).

Important notes:
- Test results must be no more than 2 years old at the start of the course.
- If you have completed a primary degree entirely through English, you may request an exemption. You must provide official documentation from the awarding institution confirming that the degree was delivered wholly in English.

These are essential for participating in online components of the course. The use of mobile phones is not encouraged.

Attendance and Participation Requirements
Attendance is compulsory for all scheduled classes, both in-person and online. Students are expected to attend sessions live and in real time.
A minimum attendance rate of 80% at live lectures and workshops is required to remain on the course.
Full engagement is essential. Active participation in classes, whether on campus or online, is a core part of the experiential learning approach that underpins the programme.
Assessment and Progression
The course does not use traditional exams.

To progress in the course, students must maintain at least 80% attendance throughout the programme.
Course Fee Coverage
Springboard+ provides significant financial support for eligible applicants who are successful in their application:
- Unemployed applicants: 100% of course fees covered.
- Employed applicants: 90% of course fees covered, with the remaining 10% payable directly by the applicant to Trinity College Dublin during the registration process.
Eligibility Responsibility
It is the applicant’s responsibility to review the eligibility criteria and confirm their category (employed or unemployed) on the official Springboard+ website before applying.
