Rinn_Quantum logo blueRinn Quantum received €30 million in funding from Research Ireland, and this multi-institutional centre will position Ireland at the forefront of emerging quantum technologies. Over eight years, the Centre is expected to train hundreds of researchers, attract international talent, and deepen industry partnerships to ensure the nation benefits from future quantum advancements. 

The legal and societal implications of these new technologies will be a focus for the Centre. g The School of Law’s, Professor Deirdre Ahern is on the Rinn Quantum Leadership Team  heading up the Quantum Technologies in Society research programme.

 

 

Highlighting the importance of this multidisciplinary approach, Professor Ahern stated: 

"Just as we have seen with AI, it is vital to lead debate around the development of ethics and governance in considering how quantum technologies may transform our society and to ensure that we are ready. Educating and engaging deeply with governmental actors, the public and industry will be crucial to our work."
