Research Expertise

Wideband measurement and analysis of the dynamic properties of magnetic fluids and nano-particle systems. Magnetic and dielectric measurements. Magnetic composites.Relaxation and Resonance processes.Surface effects in nano-particles. Stochastic resonance, Signal to Noise Ratio , Non-linear response of magnetic fluids. Prof. Fannin cooperates with many research groups in the magnetic fluid area, including groups from Australia, Checz- Republic, England, France, Germany, Lithuania , Mexico, Norway, Poland, Rumania, Slovakia, Russian Federation and the United States. He is also actively involved as a member of a European research group dealing with "Gravitational Phenomena in Magnetic Fluids". This is a European Space Agency project and his role includes pre and after flight characterisation of magnetic fluids which are to be used in a programme of experiments in space.

    Summary
    The OpenAIRE project supports the Open Access Pilot conducted by the European Commission in the Seventh Research Framework Programme (FP7). The project will deliver an electronic infrastructure and supporting mechanism for the presentation and monitoring of research articles (and to some extent related scientific data) funded in seven disciplines (energy, environment, ICT, electronic infrastructures, science in society etc.). The project also involves the establishment and operation of a "European Open Access Helpdesk System" based on a network of national "Open Access Liason Offices" covering the European Union member states. TCD will provide OpenAIRE's Open Access Liaison Office for Ireland.
