Patrick Scott 'Lotus Pond' V'Soske tapestry 1988

Bite-sized info:

Designed by Patrick Scott and produced by V'soske, this rug was commissioned and donated by Ronald Tallon of Scott Tallon Walker architects for the O'Reilly Institute. In a redesign of this space during the Summer of 2015, Lotus Pond was relocated to the entrance foyer of the School of Nursing and Midwifery. As of March 2017, we are happy to announce that this magnificent work has been relocated to The Daly Boardroom of The Financial Services department of the University in order to facilitate a major refurbishment project at the School of Nursing and Midwifery.

It is one of three large-scale works by Patrick Scott that have been integrated into an architectural context at Trinity College to create a stimulating environment for research, teaching and learning. Another example is 'Berkeley', commissioned by Ahrends Burton Koralek architects for the entrance hall of the Berkeley Library in 1967. The third work, 'Kite!', 622 x 622 cm, also donated by Scott Tallon Walker architects, is a cross between a painting and a textile. It hung originally in the Luce Hall but is temporarily on loan to Maynooth University (NUIM) until 2018 when it will return to Trinity College Dublin, to a brand new context - the new School of Business.
