Shut Up and Write Café for PG Students
The Shut Up and Write Café runs all year. Sessions are hosted using Blackboard Collaborate. No video or audio is necessary to join.
- Monday 9.30 - 11.00am
Based on a tried and tested format - this writing session uses the pomodoro method of 25 minute writing sessions interspersed with 5 minute breaks for coffee/chatting.
e.g.
9.30am - 9.40am: Quick hello & some freewriting to get you started.
9.40am - 10.05am: 25mins of writing
10.05am - 10.10am: take a break, have a chat, get a coffee...
10.10am - 10.35am: 25mins of writing
10.35am - 10.40am: take a break, have a chat, get some tea...
10.40am - 11.00am: 20mins of writing
A quick Google will show how popular this style of writing support is for postgraduates around the world. It can help with getting started, overcoming writer's block and beating procrastination. Also, sometimes, writing as a postgraduate can be a lonely experience and groups like this are a great place to meet others in a similar situation. It's a must-try if you are writing and it's not going as well as you'd hoped.
