Yvonne Kennedy


Currently a professional translator specializing in cultural theory and Asian contemporary art, Yvonne has over 30 years’ experience living and working in Asia and around the world, including Manilla, Taipei, Seoul, Connecticut, New York, California, Beijing and now Dublin, Ireland where she has resided since 2005.

Yvonne has worked as journalist, “web czar” and, during her time in Korea, an instructor at Yonsei University. She is passionate about advancing knowledge of Asia in Ireland though the work of the Trinity Centre for Asian Studies. An avid transcultural and cross-cultural community worker, she is a co-founder of the East Asian Film Festival Ireland (formerly the Chinese-Language Film Festival Ireland), a co-founder of the D13 Educate Together School, and has held leadership positions in international community organisations in Ireland and around the world.

A graduate of Pomona College, Yvonne holds dual Master’s degrees in Journalism from U.C. Berkeley, and in Literary Translation from Trinity College Dublin.
