The IIIS was established in 2002 to promote research and learning about the many dimensions of global and European integration, its dynamics, impacts and governance.

- Wanderlust, 'a surf at lunchtime' and graduate mobility
The latest report, published in The Irish Times on 15 April, from the Learning from Poland/Irish Abroad Study (by Department of Sociology and IIIS) reflects on a recent fieldtrip to London, Sydney and Melbourne and advertises an important Graduate Survey.
