Dr. Patrick Buckley

Dr. Patrick Buckley is the Director of the Genomics Centre at GMI. He graduated with a PhD in Clinical Genetics in the group of Professor Jan Dumanski at the Department of Genetics and Pathology, Rudbeck Laboratory, Uppsala University, Sweden. Moving back to Ireland, he spent two years in the in-vitro diagnostics unit of the Irish Medicines Board (now HPRA), before moving back to research to the Department of Cancer Genetics and a lecturing position in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Therapeutics at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. Patrick then moved to Beaumont Hospital to establish the Molecular Pathology Laboratory, an ISO15189 accredited genomics core facility for clinical molecular testing across all pathology departments before joining the management team at GMI. He is an adjunct senior lecturer at the School of Biological Sciences at DIT, a co-founder of the Irish Molecular Diagnostics Network and a member of the Molecular Diagnostics advisory body at the Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Medicine.
