Travel Bursary Report April 2023 - Qing Qi

Qing is a 4th Year PhD candidate in the School of Psychology, Trinity College Dublin

The TRiSS Travel Bursary facilitated my attendance at the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference (AAIC) in Amsterdam in July 2023.

The overarching goal of my PhD project is to explore the effects of lifestyle activities on cognition and brain health in cognitively healthy midlife individuals who are at risk for Alzheimer’s disease, a topic highly relevant to the AAIC.
Specifically, I presented my research in a poster session, which investigated sex differences in the associations between dementia risk, protective lifestyle and cognition in mid-life.

Fortunately, I was honored to receive the Best Student Poster Prize at the AAIC 2023. Additionally, I had the opportunity to attend the lecturers’ talks, symposiums, and poster sessions for five days.

In conclusion, attending the AAIC, coupled with the opportunity to present my research findings orally, has been pivotal in advancing my knowledge, refining my research focus, and fostering invaluable connections within the dementia prevention research community. The experiences and insights gained will undeniably contribute to the quality and impact of my ongoing PhD endeavors.

I am deeply grateful for the financial support from the TRISS travel bursary.
