The Irish Manuscripts in St Gallen - A Day of Public Lectures
Please note: the venue for this event has changed and it will now take place at the Arts Block.
A one-day symposium to celebrate the return to Ireland of the Sankt Gallen Irish manuscripts organised by the School of Histories and Humanities.
Please register for the event here.
The connection between Ireland and Sankt Gallen goes back to early seventh century, when the Irish monk Gallus established a hermitage that would ultimately become the site of the world-famous monastery and library. The modern Stiftsbibliothek of Sankt Gallen still houses one of the most important collections of Irish manuscripts in the world.
Speakers will include Dáibhi Ó Cróinín (Historian), Bernard Meehan (TCD), Roy Flechner (UCD), Pádraic Moran (NUIG), Rachel Moss (TCD), Immo Warntjes (TCD) and Nicole Volmering as well as our special guests, Dr Cornel Dora and Philipp Lenz of the Stiftsbibliothek St Gallen. The event will be followed by a reception in the Royal Irish Academy.
Full programme can be found on the Eventbrite page above.
