Associate Research Fellow, Trinity Centre for Environmental Humanities, School of Histories and Humanities, Trinity College Dublin

I am a postdoctoral researcher on the VICES (Volcanic Impacts on Climate, Environment and Society) project at the University of Bern. Prior to this, I was a postdoctoral research fellow on the ERC Synergy 4-Oceans project at the Trinity Centre for Environmental Humanities. My research on the environmental and climate history of East Asia focuses on analysing how different historical societies reacted to natural disasters, such as explosive volcanic eruptions, with interdisciplinary approaches. I am also interested in the broader field of environmental history and applying digital research methods. I received my PhD in History in 2022. My thesis explores the multiple facets of the uses of cultural heritage in post-industrial European port cities from a historical perspective. Before that, I received an MA in Cultural Policy and Arts Management from University College Dublin (2016). From 2010 to 2015, I worked as a newspaper journalist specializing in culture and the arts in South China.
