Research Interests

Sophia Chapple is currently a PhD student in Environmental History at Trinity College Dublin. She holds a BA in History and Political Science, and is a candidate for an MPhil in Environmental History. She concentrates on human reactions to climate change in the Early Modern Period, and is now expanding her research to include North Atlantic and North Sea marine ecosystems and coastal communities. Sophia is also a research assistant on the 4-Oceans project at TCEH and compiles primary source data for analysis. She hopes to pursue a career in Environmental History, and is passionate about applying what she’s learned from historical lessons to current crises.
