LL.M. Scholarship Opportunities

Constantia Maxwell Scholarship (for LL.M only)

LL.M students may apply to be considered for Constantia Maxwell scholarship. The value of the scholarship is a 3,000 euro contribution towards LL.M tuition fees (EU or Non-EU) in academic year 2026/27. It is generously funded by the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at Trinity College Dublin.

This scholarship seeks to acknowledge the quality of entrants to our taught LL.M programmes and the on-going contribution of LL.M students to our Law School and Faculty. It aims to support and develop gifted postgraduate students.

Eligibility

This scholarship is available to new entrants (EU and Non-EU) to any of our four LL.M. degrees, for admission in 2026/27. In order to be eligible, applicants must hold and have officially accepted an Unconditional Offer of a place on one of these programmes by 30 June 2026.

Selection Criteria

Applications are assessed competitively with the sole criteria for the granting of the scholarship being the proven academic merit of the candidate. It is accepted, however, that very many candidates with exceptional qualifications apply annually to the programme. Therefore, the decision as to the recipient of the scholarship (which is made at School level) is at the exclusive discretion of the LL.M. Course Director.

As the selection process will be highly competitive, applicants are strongly advised to apply for all other funding and grants open to them.

Conditions

This scholarship is open to EU and Non-EU postgraduate students undertaking studies on one of our four LL.M. degrees in the academic year 2026/27. It is offered subject to the following conditions:

• The holder must engage in full-time study and must register for one LL.M. degree at the Law School in academic year 2026/27
• The holder is required to engage in relevant and appropriate student ambassador activities as determined by the LL.M. Course Director
• The holder must not be a simultaneous holder of other grants, or funding or other awards (or any other awards with a similar monetary value)

How do I apply?

LL.M. Applicants who meet the above eligibility criteria and wish to be considered for this scholarship must complete the Constantia Maxwell Scholarship Application Form 2026-27 (one page in length) and submit to law.postgraduate@tcd.ie by 30 June 2026.

MSc Law and Finance Scholarship

The School of Law and Trinity Business School are delighted to offer two scholarships to students undertaking the MSc Law and Finance degree in academic year 2026/27. The value of the scholarship is a 5,000 euro contribution towards tuition fees (EU or Non-EU). These scholarships aim to support and develop gifted postgraduate students and will be awarded to candidates who demonstrate a high level of academic achievement, extracurricular accomplishments or contribution to society.

Eligibility

This scholarship is available to new entrants (EU and Non-EU) to MSc Law and Finance degree programme, for admission in September 2026. Applicants must have accepted an conditional or unconditional offer and complete the application process upon receipt of offer and no later than 31 May 2026.

Selection Criteria

Applications are assessed competitively with the criteria for the granting of the scholarship being the proven academic merit of the candidate. In addition to high level of academic achievement, extracurricular accomplishments or contribution to society are also weighed in the selection process. It is accepted, however, that many candidates with exceptional qualifications apply annually to the programme. Thus, the decision as to the recipient of the scholarship is at the exclusive discretion of the MSc Law and Finance Course Directors.

Scholarships will be allocated after the 31 May 2026. All applicants will receive communication shortly after this date.

• The holder must not be a simultaneous holder of other grants, or funding or other awards (or any other awards with a similar monetary value).

Submit your online application for MSc Law and Finance at my.tcd.ie. You will receive an 8 digit reference number for your application.

Submit the completed scholarship form (one page in length) to law.postgraduate@tcd.ie before 31 May 2026. Early application is encouraged.

Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship (GOI-IES)

The Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship (GOI-IES) programme supports high-calibre international students who have a domicile of origin in a World Bank classified Low or Lower-Middle Income Country and wish to study at postgraduate level in Ireland. The programme is funded by the Government of Ireland in partnership with Irish higher education institutions and managed by the Higher Education Authority. Under the initiative, 60 scholarships are awarded each year for one year of full-time study at master’s or PhD level.

Students who are successful will receive:

• A €10,000 stipend for one year’s study
• A full fee waiver of all tuition and other registration costs at the higher education institution

The Application Process

Applicants are required to be in possession of an offer for admission to Trinity at the time of application for the scholarship and will be required to submit a copy of offer letter when applying for Government of Ireland Scholarship.  

If you are considering applying for the Government of Ireland Scholarship, we suggest you apply to Trinity College Dublin by 10 February 2026 at the latest, providing required supporting documentation as detailed here. This will allow the School of Law and University Admissions team time to review your application. We cannot guarantee applications submitted after this date will be reviewed in time and we cannot review incomplete applications.

There is an application fee of €55 to submit a course application to Trinity College Dublin. Unfortunately, this fee cannot be waived or refunded under any circumstance.

If an offer is in place, the scholarship application should then be submitted via the HEA portal.
