The lecture brought together leading members of the Irish legal community, including Chief Justice Donal O'Donnell, Mr Justice Gerard Hogan, former Chief Justice Frank Clarke, Attorney General Rossa Fanning, along with academics and students from the Trinity Law School and Universities across Dublin. The event was chaired by Prof. Aileen Kavanagh who noted that the TriCON Verdon Lecture marks the beginning of a new annual tradition for the Trinity Centre for Constitutional Governance (TriCON). At the lecture, Professor Kavanagh thanked Trinity Law School alumnus, Craig Verdon (LLB 1991), whose generous gift supports the activities of TriCON and made the TriCON Verdon lecture possible.

For those who were unable to attend or wish to revisit the discussion, the full recordings the TriCON Verdon Lecture is now available :

On April 24th, Professor Sunstein gave a seminar on his recent book ‘Imperfect Oracle: What AI Can and Cannot Do’ to a full audience at Trinity College Dublin.  Chaired by Dr. Róisín Á Costello from the School of Law, the seminar analysed how AI can augment human decision-making and mitigate bias, while simultaneously introducing new systemic risks and limitations. The lecture served as a critical look at the practical reality of integrating large language models into legal and social frameworks.

The Law School is extremely grateful to Professor Cass Sunstein for two stimulating events on cutting-edge issues of the day.  Professor Sunstein was made an Honorary Fellow of Trinity College Dublin in April 2026 and we look forward to welcoming him back to the Law School on future occasions.
