Trinity Hosts The Minister for Higher Education of The Sultanate of Oman

On the morning of Wednesday 16th May, Trinity College Dublin hosted The Minister for Higher Education of The Sultanate of Oman, Her Excellency Dr. Rawya Al Busaidi and her delegation. This was part of a broader exploratory visit to Ireland around sharing knowledge of innovation, industry connections and entrepreneurships, which included The Department of Higher Education and also the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.
The visit follows the successful visit of The Irish Minister of State for Higher Education, Mary Mitchell O’Connor, to Oman in March. Maintaining momentum from the March meeting, exploring how The Sultanate of Oman could benefit from Ireland’s recent experiences with developing Technological Universities.
The Trinity objectives from the meeting were to reinforce the opportunities for collaboration on student recruitment, student exchange, Middle Eastern and European Languages and Cultures, internships for the dual degree programme in Oman institutions and the engineering collaboration with Sultan Qaboos University and others. The group also looked to explore opportunities under the innovation and entrepreneurship area and scholarship funding. In a tweet following the meeting, Trinity College Dublin’s Provost, Patrick Prendergast commented on the “Great potential for collaboration” with The Sultanate of Oman.
