Trinity Welcomes Applications from Russian Postgraduate Students on Government Scholarship Scheme
Posted on 16 December 2014
Trinity College Dublin is proud to be the only Irish institution to qualify for inclusion in the Russian Federation’s Global Education Programme. The Global Education Programme funds postgraduate study for Russian citizens in qualifying higher education institutes around the world, and will last from 2014 to 2016. The programme aims to send at least 1500 Russian citizens abroad for postgraduate study to a number of the world’s top universities.
The Global Education Programme was officially approved by the Government of the Russian Federation in June 2014. The application process and website were launched this autumn, as was the implementation partner for the scheme, the Moscow School of Management, Skolkovo. Students may undertake a Masters, either taught or by research, or a PhD.
The aim of the programme is to address skills shortages in key areas: Science, Medical Science, Education, Administration and Engineering. Upon completion of their studies, students will return to work in a Russian company for at least three years. Only 10% of jobs will be based in Moscow and St Petersburg, as the programme aims to recruit highly qualified personnel in the Russian regions.
A maximum of RUB 1,381,800 will be made available to successful applicants for one academic year. The Global Education Programme covers all expenses associated with the academic program, including tuition and living expenses.
Eligible disciplines at Trinity College Dublin include Computer Science, Engineering, Clinical and Preventive Medicine, Pharmacy, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Physical Sciences, Economics, Political Science, Social Work, History, Management and Education.
