There are over 500 undergraduate subjects that have been preapproved for incoming UG students. Students must enroll in a subject load of between 37.5 and 50 points (3 to 4 subjects) per semester.

There are a few specialist areas that are not open to exchange and study abroad students. These include medicine, dentistry, health sciences, veterinary science and film and television. Some biomedicine and law subjects are also restricted. For a list of faculties and restrictions, please click here.

There are specific application requirements for certain disciplines including Education, Engineering, Psychology, Science and Music.

There are restrictions in Drama, Film and Biomedicine. Students from these disciplines should only apply for this exchange if they have discussed these restrictions with their Academic Mobility Coordinator and have their approval. This must be made clear on your application.

When reviewing courses on the ANU Programs and Courses website, it is important that you review the 'Requisite and Incompatibility' section. This will tell you what previous knowledge is expected or required to be successful in the courses you are interested in. All students must meet the pre-requisite requirements for the courses they wish to take.

Full course load: 24 ANU units per semester (typically 4 courses at 6 units each)
Minimum course load: 18 ANU units per semester (with approval from TCD and ANU)

Course restrictions:
Courses offered by the ANU Medical School are not available.
Art studio, music, and design courses are limited.
Law courses are only available to students enrolled in a law degree at their home institution.

UNSW offers two tailored semesters for Trinity Exchange Students:

Tailored Semester 1: Summer Term + Term 1, from early January until mid-May

Tailored Semester 3: T2C Term + Term 3, from mid-August until mid-December.

While most Faculties will accept suitably qualified exchange students, in some areas restrictions and limitations do apply and you should refer to the Exchange Factsheet for details.

The following courses are not available for exchange at UNSW:
MBA Coursework, Courses that are part of the Honours degree (4xxx), UNSW Canberra at the Australian Defence Force Academy (all courses starting with ‘z’), UNSW College and Doctor of Medicine program.
Please note, enrolment in Biomedical Engineering and Computer Science courses is extremely limited; students need to be prepared to select courses from another major.

While this exchange is open to students from most departments, there are many disciplines at the University of Sydney which have special admission requirements which may affect your acceptance into modules in your area of study.
For one semester, students typically enrol in four units of study (each valued at 6 credit points) to make up a workload of 24 credit points. For a one-year program, students will enrol in 48 credit points across two semesters.

Health Science: This exchange may be suitable for some Health Science students, please review prerequisites.

Law: The University of Sydney has a separate exchange agreement with the Law School and students should contact the Law School for the application to apply rather than applying for a place in the college-wide exchange.

Please review UTS’s comprehensive list of pre-approved subjects across most study areas. Subjects on this list are pre-approved by the faculties and do not require evidence of prior knowledge. Students are able to self enrol into the subject upon admittance to UTS. Students are strongly encouraged to find subjects in the pre-approved list before exploring other subject options.

Subjects from the following Programs are generally not available for Study Abroad students: Nursing; clinical and education placements; Midwifery; all Graduate Health subjects; Master of Clinical Psychology; MBA Executive; Chinese Medicine; Engineering internships. Animation and Media Arts Production have limited availability.

Course Availability

Subjects of study at UWA are referred to as units. The term 'course' at UWA refers to a degree program, e.g., Bachelor of Science.

You will require each relevant student office's (there may be more than one) approval for each unit you wish to take. The schools (faculties) will ensure you meet the prerequisites for each unit prior to your enrolment. Typically, most units are offered for a semester, but some must be taken for a full year.

Before selecting your units, read the description in the UWA Handbook and ensure that you meet any specific prerequisites for the units that interest you.

Please note, the UWA Student Exchange programme allows you to choose units from any school except in the areas of Medicine and Dentistry.

Courses (called ‘subjects’ at UOW) can be chosen from the full range of degree programs offered by the University, and studies can be undertaken across disciplines. Generally, Exchange students enrol in three or four subjects per session. To give yourself some flexibility with timetabling during enrolment, you should obtain approval in advance for five or six subjects per session.

Some faculties have restricted/closed subjects for study abroad and exchange students. Please refer to the Study Plan Guidelines and Restrictions for more information.
