Ways to come to Trinity
Every year, Trinity welcomes over 1000 Visiting Students from more than 50 countries to study with us for a semester or a full academic year. Visiting Students can study in Trinity through international or Erasmus exchange; through a study abroad provider or as fee-paying study abroad / mobility students. Read on to determine your eligibility category:
Types of Visiting / Study Abroad Student:
If you are applying to study in Trinity for a term or a full academic year, you will apply under one of the following categories:
You can apply as a Visiting Non-EU student if you are studying in a country outside the European Union.
If your home institution is outside the European Union and has an exchange agreement with Trinity, first you must be nominated by your home institution and then you must apply to study at Trinity for a semester exchange or a year-long exchange. If you apply through this category you are considered a visiting exchange student.
If your home institution is outside the European Union, you may apply directly to Trinity as a fee paying visiting non-EU student or through a study abroad provider. A study abroad provider may be recommended by your home institution.Study Abroad providers are independent organisations that coordinate the application process and accommodation. If you apply through this category you are considered a fee-paying visiting student.

You can apply as a Visiting EU student if you are studying in a country outside the European Union (EU).
If your home institution has an Erasmus exchange agreement with Trinity, first you must be nominated by your home institution and then you must apply to study at Trinity for a semester exchange or a year-long exchange. If you apply to study in Trinity through this category, you are considered a Visiting Erasmus Student.
If you are a resident of a country belonging to the EU, but do not wish to participate in an Erasmus exchange or your home university does not have an Erasmus agreement with Trinity you may apply directly to Trinity as a fee-paying Visiting EU Student.

Consortium for Advanced Studies Abroad at Trinity Programme
In partnership with the Consortium of Advanced Studies Abroad, Trinity College Dublin offers a programme open to students from CASA member institutions who wish to study at Trinity for a semester or year. Students are fully immersed in Trinity’s vibrant academic and social life, have access to programme-specific events, excursions and a weeklong orientation program, Understanding Ireland.

Eligibility requirements
- Students must ensure that they have been nominated by their home university to participate in the exchange.
- Students or their home university must have identified a TCD academic supervisor who is prepared to host the student for the entirety of their stay.
- Students must provide the same documentation as Erasmus applicants .
- The traineeship mobility is carried out in the framework of Inter Institution Agreements (IIA) between both universities, but traineeships can be conducted without the need for an existing IIA. In which case, they go through HR and need to complete a Visitor Application Form to gain access to campus.
