On Saturday 7 November the School of English, in collaboration with the National Library of Ireland’s Seamus Heaney: Listen Now Again exhibition, is hosting a celebration of Seamus Heaney’s work in the Trinity Long Room Hub. For the first time, the editors of the landmark volumes The Translations of Seamus Heaney (2022), The Letters of Seamus Heaney (2023), and The Poems of Seamus Heaney (2025) will come together to discuss their long engagement with Heaney’s writing, and Heaney’s life in publishing, in a series of unique conversations with leading scholars and writers.
The event will also celebrate Heaney’s many connections with Trinity, and with the School of English, and it will draw on the remarkable archive he donated to the National Library of Ireland in 2011. It will conclude with a reading from Ireland Chair of Poetry Vona Groarke, in the Bank of Ireland Cultural and Heritage Centre on Westmoreland Street, home to the Seamus Heaney: Listen Now Again exhibition.
The event is free and open to all, but reservations are essential.
