Researchers from Trinity College Dublin's School of Engineering have successfully demonstrated Ireland’s first cement-free, 3D-printed geopolymer, a low-carbon construction material made partly from industrial waste. Developed in collaboration with industry partners, the innovative material has the potential to significantly reduce the environmental impact of construction while supporting faster, more efficient building methods through 3D printing technology. Early assessments suggest it could cut embodied carbon emissions by up to 70% compared with conventional concrete.
