International Welcome Programme
Average commitment - 4 hours annually
Are you a Trinity graduate who came to Ireland to study or an Irish native who is now living abroad, and looking for a great volunteer opportunity? If so, then the International Welcome Programme (IWP) is the perfect volunteering opportunity for you. The IWP matches Trinity students studying in non-EU countries on their semester abroad with Trinity graduates, also called ‘buddies,’ who live locally. As an alumni buddy, you will be able to advise students on everything from where to eat to what places to visit.
Where possible, alumni buddies and students are encouraged to meet up at least once in person if local pandemic restrictions allow, or else connect via phone, email or text to help answer any questions the students might have upon their arrival to their new city. Often, alumni buddies and students will continue to meet up/connect online for various activities while the student is in the area.
The IWP is a great way for Trinity graduates who live abroad to reconnect with Trinity and give back to current students. Likewise, the Programme is an opportunity for students to make connections with graduates who are willing to offer advice, guidance and support while living and studying far from Trinity’s campus.
If you become an alumni buddy, you will receive guidelines on your role as a buddy from Trinity Development & Alumni to ensure that you and the student have a positive experience. For more information or to sign up to become a buddy, please download the International Programme Guidelines:
