The Hubert Butler Essay Prize, 2019

The School of English is pleased to announce its association with the annual Hubert Butler Essay Prize, established in honour of Hubert Butler, one of Ireland’s most distinguished intellectuals and essayists. The prize, run by the House of European Art (https://twitter.com/H_E_ART_London) seeks to encourage the art of essay writing with a European dimension and expand interest in Butler's work. The subject of this year’s prize is 'Where does a citizen of the world belong?'. The judges are Roy Foster (Chair), Nicholas Grene and Eva Hoffmann, and the Prize's honorary patron is John Banville.
