Trinity Sport welcomes the Board decision to pursue an alternative location for the temporary Library and Book of Kells exhibition, which will mean that College Park will remain in full use for sport. This outcome is the result of extensive consultation and positive engagement involving the Trinity Sport team, DUCAC Chairperson and the sports clubs’ representatives working together with the College to guide this informed decision.

Michelle Tanner, Head of Sport and Recreation, TCD commented, “Even though all our sports would have been facilitated if the exhibition went ahead on College Park, disruption would have been inevitable, so we are delighted that sport will not now be impacted. Throughout the consultation process Trinity Sport demonstrated positive engagement, which was a significant part of the solution, not the problem.”

Matthew Simons, DUCAC Chairperson commented, “I know this has caused a lot of concern for our sport clubs, but I am very proud of the trust placed in me and the club representatives to protect the best interests of student sport.”

Trinity Sport would like to thank all our members for their support, and we look forward to working with the University to advance the student sport mission. We wish the temporary Library exhibition project every success.
