Trinity Sport recently launched a ‘Community Access’ membership which allows residents from the local community to access Trinity Sport facilities at a discounted rate. The offer is now available to those who are living within the Mansion House A area, including Pearse House, Tara Street, St. Andrew’s Court and Markiewicz House and who are in receipt of social welfare payment or living in supported or social housing.

Jo-Hanna Ivers, Associate Dean of Civic Engagement and Social Innovation, Trinity College Dublin said, “I’m delighted to be here today to launch the Trinity Sport community membership which will give members of the local community access to the fantastic sporting facilities here at Trinity College Dublin.”

Michelle Tanner, Head of Sport and Recreation at Trinity College Dublin commented, “Everything we do at Trinity Sport is about helping people to participate more in sport and physical activity so that they can reach their potential. Sport is a great vehicle for community engagement, and we look forward to building stronger links with the local community and groups such as St. Andrew’s Resource Centre.”

Ivana Bacik, TD Dublin Bay South said, “I am delighted to have played a role in ensuring that the Trinity College Sports Centre will now offer a discounted membership rate to those from the local community around Pearse Street and South Inner City who wish to join up. This is a great equality, diversity and inclusion initiative that will make a real difference to many residents.”

Paul McKeown, local community resident said, “The community access membership launched by Trinity Sport will give residents access to sporting facilities such as the 25m swimming pool, climbing wall and fitness theatre, but most importantly this will give local community youth groups exposure and access to campus life at Trinity College Dublin.”
