Congratulations on achieving your place at Trinity College Dublin.

We are delighted that you have chosen Trinity College Dublin as the University for you and we hope that your time here is enjoyable and rewarding. On this page you will find links to all the information you need before you arrive at TCD and on becoming a student at the university including information on registration, orientation, tutors, Freshers’ Week and accommodation.

Freshers’ Week, Registration and Orientation at Trinity will take place from Monday 19th to Friday 23rd of September 2011.

Registration for new entrants begins on Monday 19th and takes place in Luce Hall. Please review the schedule for registration (PDF 33 KB) noting the time for your particular course and ensure you have all the relevant documents required with you for registration including your photo ID.

Freshers' Week is the induction week for all new undergraduate and visiting/Erasmus students. The week is a mix of familiarising yourself with the College and fun, with orientation sessions as well as various parties and events organised by societies and the Students' Union. There is an Information Centre in the Arts Building, society stalls in Front Square and the Students' Union in House 6, where the SU officers can help with every aspect of college life.

Orientation sessions are held during Freshers’ Week for new students. There are sessions on each individual course as well as sessions introducing students to university life and services, computer access as well as Library and Sports Centre tours. We recommend that you attend orientation sessions as this information will help you adapt to life at Trinity and make your first weeks more enjoyable.

Tutors are assigned to each student on entering College. The Tutorial Service is a confidential service available to all undergraduate students, offering student support in all aspects of College life. Details of your tutor and their availability will be sent to you in a separate mailing from the Senior Tutor’s Office. It is advised that you visit your tutor during Freshers’ Week.

Accommodation for incoming students is mainly provided in College residences at Trinity Hall. Trinity Hall is a large, friendly complex with its own Junior Common Room which organises many social activities and outings. This well-equipped residence is 4 kms from the city centre with good public transport connections by LUAS (tram) and bus. Applications for all Trinity College accommodation is made online.

The TCD Life website is a guide for your non academic life at Trinity. Here you will find information on the College’s 100-plus clubs and societies, Students’ Union, life on campus and living in Dublin.
