Research Associates

IIIS Research Associates are the people who drive the IIIS research agenda. Research Associates are mainly drawn from the academic staff of TCD, but external researchers may also be appointed as Research Associates.

Research Associates take an active role in the activities of the Institute, including participation at seminars/conferences, publishing working papers in the IIIS Discussion Paper Series, in addition to contributing to its overall research profile.

In the case of internal Research Associates, the IIIS Research Associate programme runs in parallel to normal departmental affiliation. In the case of external Research Associates, the Institute can make office and other university facilities available, depending on the level of demand.

Members of the TCD academic staff or external researchers who would like to be associated with the IIIS as a Research Associate can nominate themselves by completing the nomination form [MS Word 32Kb] and returning it to Colette Keleher. Nomination requests are placed before the IIIS Executive Committee for approval.

The initial term of the appointment is for three years. In the case of external Research Associates, the status can be extended provided there is evidence of active involvement with the IIIS during the previous nomination period.
