‘[S]hut up in a caste’: the Irish farm labourer, the state and the legacy of peasant proprietorship, 1922-1976

A lecture by Dr Caitriona Curtis (TLRH) as part of the Modern and Contemporary Irish History Seminar Series.

Caitriona Curtis is the Executive Director of the Trinity Long Room Hub Arts and Humanities Research Institute. She earned her PhD in History from Maynooth University in 2007. This talk is based on her essay published in Land Reform and Legislation in Ireland, 1800-2024, edited by Terence Dooley, Tony McCarthy, and Annie Tindley (Four Courts Press, 2024).

The Modern and Contemporary Irish History Seminar Series will take place at 2.30p.m. on Wednesday in the Trinity Long Room Hub Arts & Humanities Research Institute. It provides a forum for discussion and dissemination of new ideas, perspectives, and research on Irish history, Irish Studies and cognate disciplines. All are welcome.
