Ireland and the American Revolution

A two day conference organised by the Virtual Record Treasury of Ireland in partnership with the Trinity Long Room Hub Arts and Humanities Research Institute.

As we approach a series of 250th anniversaries relating to the period of the American Revolution we would like to draw your attention to our forthcoming conference: ‘Ireland and the American Revolution’. Taking place in the Trinity Long Room Hub at Trinity College Dublin on the 9-10 October 2025, the conference will be a forum for historians, scholars, and educators to explore the role of Ireland and its people in this transformative period.
Attendance is free but booking is essential.

Thu., 9 October, 15:45-17:00 - Professor Eliga Gould (New Hampshire and Oxford): ‘Lord Carlisle’s Union: Making Peace in America, Ireland, and Britain, 1778-1783.’
Fri., 10 October, 10:00-11:15 - Professor Nicholas Canny (Galway): ‘Interconnections between Ireland and North America in the Era of Revolutions, c1760-c1848’
