Road transport emissions modelling for the Dublin area

Dublin Emissions

  • Project Team:
    • Project Leader: Prof. Brian Broderick
    • Research student: Shane O'Sullivan
  • Description:
    • Motor vehicles emit a variety of atmospheric pollutants. Emissions vary by vehicle type, age and speed. The aim of this project is to compile accurate emissions inventories required for gridded regional air quality models. The results will be validated by comparing the measured and modelled air quality. Air pollution measurements will be taken in the Dublin Port Tunnel controlled environment. The overall estimate of emissions will be compiled from the combination of traffic data and EFD (Emission Factor Databases). This database contains the emission factors used in the UK Emissions Inventory as well as factors specifically designed for Local inventories.
