Biography
Sorcha is an Assistant Professor in Social Work in the School of Social Work and Social Policy at Trinity College Dublin. She holds a PhD and a Bachelor of Social Studies (Social Work) from Trinity College Dublin, and was awarded the Government of Ireland Postgraduate Research Scholarship in 2015, which funded her doctoral research. Sorcha's PhD was a grounded theory study which explored the experiences of individuals newly diagnosed with malignant brain tumours. Prior to joining the School of Social Work & Social Policy, Sorcha worked as a Medical Social Worker across hospital settings, gaining specialist experience in oncology, neurosurgery, palliative care and trauma. She teaches across the Master in Social Work and Bachelor in Social Studies (Social Work) programmes, contributing to the development of research informed and practice grounded social work education.
