The School of Social Work & Social Policy is hugely proud to celebrate the achievements of Nora Corcoran, a current MSc Social Policy and Practice student and graduate of the Postgraduate Diploma in Social Policy and Practice - and a recipient of the Gisele Schmidt Memorial Fund for Traveller Education, a Trinity award established to support Traveller students in accessing higher education.

Nora was recently featured in a special event ‘ The Path Less Travelled’, hosted at the Trinity Long Room Hub, where Provost Linda Doyle engaged her in a powerful and inspiring personal conversation marking both Traveller Ethnicity Day and International Women’s Day.

During the event, Nora spoke with honesty, courage, and generosity about her Traveller heritage, her educational journey, and the importance of recognition, belonging, and support within education. This conversation was not only insightful but a powerful reminder of why equity, access, and representation are central to the mission of social policy. As both a postgraduate student and an advocate, Nora continues to inspire fellow students, staff, and the wider College community. Her words — “Remember: You can do anything you want” — capture the spirit of resilience and possibility we strive to foster.  We are honoured to celebrate her achievements and look forward to all she will continue to contribute to social policy and practice in Ireland.
