Application for a Language Exemption

What you need to know

All applicants to Trinity College Dublin are required to present English, Mathematics and a language other than English to meet the minimum entry requirements.

If you are unable to present a language other than English, then you can apply for a language exemption.

Please note that a language exemption does not apply to courses with a specific language requirement (i.e Law and French).

All forms should be returned by post, marked Language Exemption, and should be posted to Applications and Admissions Team, Academic Registry, Watts Building, Trinity College Dublin, Dublin 2.

Please remember to include your CAO number on both application forms.

If you were granted a language exemption in a previous year from Trinity and are reapplying to the CAO in the upcoming academic year, you must send a copy of the letter from Trinity confirming your exemption to CAO directly.

For more information please visit the CAO website.

If you no longer have a copy of your exemption letter, please fill in a new language application form and post to the Applications and Admissions Team, Academic Registry, Watts Building, Trinity College Dublin, Dublin 2. Please note the year that you were granted exemption
