Confidentiality

All S2S staff and volunteers work under a strict confidentiality policy. What you share with a Mentor, Peer Supporter, or S2S staff member stays within S2S unless there is a genuine concern that:

  • You may be at risk
  • You may pose a risk to others
  • A minor or vulnerable adult may be at risk

In such cases, the S2S Coordinator must be informed and may need to contact someone outside S2S. Wherever possible, you will be told in advance who is being contacted and why, and you will be included in the process.

These situations are very rare. In almost all cases, what you share remains fully confidential within the service.

If you ever feel your confidentiality has not been respected, or if you are unhappy with the support received, please refer to our complaints procedure and let us know as soon as possible. We welcome feedback and will take swift action to resolve issues and prevent them from happening again.
