Student 2 Student (S2S) is a volunteer-led Mentor and Peer Support programme at Trinity College Dublin. Our goal is to create a sense of belonging for every Trinity College student by inviting you to join our thriving community, starting in your very first week.
Mentors:
Mentors, like you, are Trinity College students who understand the challenges of undergraduate life. Every incoming student is matched with a Mentor in a similar course or subject and introduced during Orientation. They will lead tours to help you find your way around, answer your questions, and organise meet-ups throughout the academic year. You can spot them across campus in their signature red hoodies, and they love it when you stop and say hi.
Peer Supporters:
Peer Supporters are extensively trained student volunteers who offer strictly confidential, nondirective, and non-judgmental one-to-one listening. You don’t need to be in crisis to book an appointment. Any Trinity student can view the Peer Support profiles on the S2S website and request a session for problems big and small. Sometimes you just need to chat to someone who gets it, and that’s exactly what they're here for.
Volunteers:
Volunteers are at the heart of S2S, and we wouldn’t exist without them. We recruit Mentors, Head Mentors, and Peer Supporters annually, providing the perfect opportunity to give back to the community while developing valuable skills. If you’d like to get involved, keep an eye on your emails and social media in Hilary Term for recruitment updates. We look forward to welcoming new volunteers each year and encourage you to reach out with any questions.
Student Space:
There are three S2S student spaces in House 47, including:
- A communal area with a microwave, tea and coffee facilities, and an interactive screen
- A bookable Zoom room for online appointments
- A bookable one-to-one room for private conversations
Drop in anytime to heat up your lunch, enjoy a cup of tea, chit-chat, and soak up the S2S vibes!
S2S Staff:
Our team combines over twenty-five years of experience in volunteer training, peer engagement, community development, active listening, and support work. Alongside Student Counselling and Student Learning Development, we collaborate with the Transition to Trinity Officer, the Senior Tutor’s Office, and the Students’ Union. Together, we aim to enhance the student experience and build an inclusive campus community.
