Congratulations to PhD student Elena Karagianni, who has received the Dermot McAleese Teaching Assistant Award for the Department of Political Science. Ms Karagianni was proposed by Dr Jeffrey Ziegler for her teaching in Applied Statistical Analysis & Quantitative Methods I.
Her doctoral research focuses on blame attribution after natural disasters, and specifically on the communication strategies used by elected officials and their impact on public trust and electoral outcomes.
The awards, named in honour of the late Professor Dermot McAleese, former Whately Professor of Political Economy, are now in their 15th year. Each recipient receives €500 and a commemorative medal.
