Biography

Raphael O'Keeffe Ray O Keeffe has a background in sociology and criminal justice. Ray has a BA in Sociology and English from University College Dublin. His postgraduate qualifications include a Master of Arts in Criminal Justice from the institute of Public Administration when he wrote his thesis about the legitimacy of the internal prison disciplinary system and a Master of Science in Human Rights from University College Dublin. Ray wrote his MSc thesis on the Development of a Human Rights Framework in the Irish Prison Service 1983 -2003. Ray is a manager with the Irish Prison Service College and currently is the Research Officer for the Irish Prison Service. Along with criminal justice Ray’s research interests include organisational governance, the development of prison staff and legitimacy in the prison setting.
