Biography

Philip Gavin graduated from the Trinity Law School in 2017 with first class honours in Law and German. He was elected to Trinity Scholarship in 2015. He completed an LLM in International and European Business Law in the Law School in 2016. Prior to commencing his PhD research, Philip attained an MSc in Law and Finance at the University of Oxford whereupon he received the Allen and Overy Prize in Corporate Finance Law. During this time Philip was an Associate Editor of the Oxford University Commonwealth Law Journal. Upon commencing his PhD, Philip was awarded the John A. Boland Studentship by the Law School. His research focuses on the comparative governance of corporate directors and the role creditors play in influencing corporate direction. Philip’s research is funded by the Irish Research Council.

Alongside his research, Philip is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Law School, overseeing the German Law in Context module. Philip has also worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and Teaching Fellow in the Law School, providing lectures in Company Law and seminars in Private Law Remedies, Administrative Law and the Law of Equity. Philip also works as an Assistant Lecturer in Law in the Technological University Dublin.
