Ph.D. Thesis: Fostering New Challenges to Legal Systems: A Theory For Decentralised Artificial Intelligence Legal Personality

Biography

Lucia della Ventura is an Italian attorney at law and Ph.D. candidate in the School of Law. Her research investigates the legal role of Decentralised Artificial Intelligence systems (DzAI) in Blockchain-based applications, with particular emphasis on regulation and liability issues. The main purpose of her research is to examine the possibility to allocate digital legal personality to DzAI systems.

Lucia is also an Intellectual Property, Information Technology and Privacy legal advisor since 2014. Her leading interests are software patents and licences. She holds an LL.M in IT/IP Law from Trinity College Dublin with a dissertation about Artificial Intelligence legal personality. She also holds an LL.M. in EU Competition Law and Protection of Rights from Federico II University of Naples with a thesis in Intellectual Property infringement and EU Antitrust regulation: ‘Antitrust 2.0’. In 2019 she won a place at Woman Who Wow Programme awarded by Trinity Business School which gave her the chance to start her own business on AI and Blockchain-based tech solutions. To achieve this goal, in 2020 she founded the LAK Project Group. She is also the president and founder of Mosaico International ONLUS Association which promotes civil rights and social inclusion. Since 2020 Lucia is member of Technologies, Law and Society Group at Trinity College Dublin.
