Trinity Centre for Constitutional Governance (TriCON) receives significant gift from alumnus Craig Verdon

Trinity College Dublin's Law School has been the recipient of a major contribution from alumnus Craig Verdon, aimed at enhancing the work of the Trinity Centre for Constitutional Governance (TriCON).

Established in 2020, TriCON serves as a leading platform for scholarly research, informed debate, and public engagement on pressing constitutional and governmental issues, especially those confronting democratic systems today.

During a recent visit to Trinity to mark the occasion, Craig Verdon (pictured above right) shared his thoughts: "As a proud graduate of Trinity Law School, I’m thrilled to support the Trinity Centre for Constitutional Governance, which enjoys international recognition for its excellence in constitutional law. My time at Trinity was incredibly formative, and I hope this gift will help create a lasting impact for future students."

Professor David Kenny, Head of the School of Law (top image, right), noted: "Ireland has historically played a key role in global constitutional discourse, and Trinity has been central to that influence—both through the leadership of our alumni in public life and our contributions to academic dialogue. This generous support will allow TriCON to expand its mission and further our work in this vital area."

TriCON Director Professor Aileen Kavanagh (above left) expressed her appreciation, saying:"We’re deeply grateful for this support, which will enhance TriCON’s capacity as a centre of academic excellence and civic engagement on constitutional issues, democracy, and legal frameworks. It will fund new initiatives, including the annual Verdon public lecture featuring a globally renowned expert in constitutional governance, as well as a fully funded PhD scholarship to foster future leaders in the field."

Trinity Law School, founded in 1740, is regularly ranked among the top 100 law schools worldwide and counts former Irish Presidents Mary Robinson and Mary McAleese among its distinguished alumni.

As part of its broader development plans, the School is investing in the growth of TriCON, which hosts global seminar series and has led major research initiatives, including the COVID-19 Law and Human Rights Observatory and the NSLMap project.
