PRILA - New Study on Prison Staff's Views of Oversight

What do you think of Prison Oversight?

Are you an officer in the Irish Prison Service? We are looking for participants in our research study about oversight and accountability in prisons. If you are an officer up to the grade of Assistant Chief Officer (or equivalent substantive grade), we would like to hear about your experiences.

This would involve an interview with one of our research team members, at a time that suits you. Interviews can take place either online or by telephone and will last around one hour. We will discuss your role as an officer, your experiences of dealing with inspection and monitoring bodies and the courts, and the prisoner complaints system. Everything you discuss with us will be entirely confidential and you will not be identified in this research.

The research project is being carried out by Trinity College Dublin and has been funded by the European Research Council. It is fully independent of the Irish Prison Service. You can read more about the aims of the project here.

If you are happy to share your experiences with us or have any questions about taking part, please contact Dr Mary Rogan, the Principal Investigator of the project, or Dr Jayne Finlay, Research Fellow. You can get in touch by email at mary rogan @ tcd.ie, or finlayj @ tcd.ie, or by phone on 01 896 4271.
