Professor David Kenny addresses the Oireachtas COVID-19 Response Committee, reviewing the State's COVID response across several domains.
The Oireachtas Special Committee on COVID-19 Response is today taking submissions on the Legislative Framework Underpinning the State’s Response to COVID-19. Prof David Kenny of Trinity’s COVID-19 Law and Human Rights Observatory will provide expert evidence to the Committee on how Ireland’s legislative response has functioned. In particular, Prof Kenny will draw attention to several ways in which the Oireachtas can improve its oversight of legislation. He will also articulate the Observatory’s concerns about the ways in which the Government has allowed a blurring of the distinction between mandatory laws and public health advice.
