Webinar 1 - The Recent German Federal Constitutional Court’s Ruling in the BVerfG Judgment of 5 May 2020
Webinar 2 - The Pandemic and the Single Market

Trinity College Law School, Trinity Centre for Constitutional Governance (TriCON) and Irish Centre for European Law will be holding a seminar series on the EU law issues arising from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The series will be comprised of three seminars, organised in conjunction the Irish Centre for European Law, (ICEL) the Corporate Law, Governance and Capital Markets Research Group and the Trinity Centre for Constitutional Law and Governance (TriCON) both based at the Law School, Trinity College Dublin.

The first will take place on 18 June 2020 at 1 pm and will address “The Recent German Federal Constitutional Court’s Ruling in the BVerfG Judgment of 5 May 2020.” The speakers at this seminar will be:

  • Professor Blanaid Clarke (Chair), McCann FitzGerald Chair of Corporate Law, Trinity College Dublin.
  • Professor Gavin Barrett, Jean Monnet Professor of European Economic and Constitutional Law, University College Dublin.
  • Professor David Fennelly, Assistant Professor of Law, Trinity College Dublin.
  • Professor Georg Ringe, Director of the Institute of Law and Economics, University of Hamburg.
  • Professor Brigin Laffan, Director of the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies, European University Institute

The second seminar will take place on 25 June 2020 at 1 pm and will address “The Pandemic and the Single Market” and, in particular, novel developments arising from the pandemic in the fields of competition law, state aid, and public procurement. The speakers at the seminar will be:

  • Professor Diarmuid Rossa Phelan SC (Chair), The Law School, Trinity College Dublin and the Law Library.
  • Dr Vincent Power, Partner, A + L Goodbody Solicitors.
  • Kate McKenna, Partner, Matheson Solicitors.
  • Clare Graydon, Solicitor, Quigg Golden Solicitors

The third seminar will take place on 30 June 2020 at 1 pm and will address “The Pandemic and Privacy and Data Protection.” The speakers at the seminar will be:

  • Professor David Fennelly BL (Chair), Assistant Professor of Law, Trinity College Dublin.
  • Professor Orla Lynskey, Associate Professor of Law, London School of Economics.
  • Professor Maria Grazia Porcedda, Assistant Professor of Law, Trinity College Dublin.
  • Mr Colum Walsh, Deputy Commissioner, Data Protection Commission.
