The Brian Lenihan Memorial Address has become a successful and much anticipated annual event marking Mr. Lenihan's substantial contribution to Irish public life and his longstanding connection to the Law School as a student, scholar and lecturer. This year’s address will be delivered by the Attorney General of Ireland, Mr. Paul Gallagher on the 'Legal Frameworks and the Challenges of Technology and Artificial Intelligence'.

Since called to the Bar in 1979, Paul Gallagher has been one of the greatest legal minds of Ireland. As a barrister, he pleaded successfully as a barrister in several landmark cases and has continuously pushed back the frontiers of legal knowledge in Ireland and throughout Europe. He has been a Senior Counsel since 1991 and a Bencher of the Kings' Inn since 2005. During his first term as Attorney General of Ireland from 2007 to 2011, he played a vital role to address with rigour and ingenuity important societal issues, especially amidst the post-2008 economic downturn. Since 2020, he has undertaken a second term as Attorney General, which he has carried out with the same intellect, eloquence and curiosity that has characterised his work. It is then a great honour for the TCD School of Law that he has accepted to deliver the 11th Brian Lenihan Memorial Address, which will be on the 'Legal Frameworks and the Challenges of Technology and Artificial Intelligence'.
