Defamation and Privacy Law: Latest Developments For Practitioners

Defamation and Privacy Law POSTPONED

Date: Thursday, 7th April 2011

Venue: Robert Emmet Theatre, Arts Building, Trinity College Dublin

About the Conference

This year has witnessed important legal developments in relation to defamation and privacy law. The Defamation Act 2009, which introduces vital changes in the law and practice of defamation litigation, came into effect on 1 January 2010. The courts have begun to address how the new rules should operate. Significant decisions have been handed down, in Ireland, and North and South Britain and in other jurisdictions, on the scope of legal remedies for infringement of the right to privacy. The School of Law, of Trinity College Dublin is holding a evening conference on Thursday, 7th April from 5:45 – 8:45 pm. (This conference was originally scheduled for 2nd December but was postponed due to the weather.)

All the recent cases of any significance will be analysed. A strong team of lecturers, with wide experience, has been assembled.

There will be plenty of opportunity for questions and discussion.
