You are invited to attend a lecture in Trinity College on Friday 24 November, from 12 noon to 12.45pm, given by the Chief Justice of Zambia, the Honorable Dr Mumba Malila. Chief Justice Malila has had a very distinguished career, in academia, human rights and legal practice. He has served as Chairperson of the Zambian Human Rights Commission, Vice Chairperson of the African Union Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights and member of the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention, Special Rapporteur on Prisons and Conditions of Detention in Africa, and member of the Working Groups on the Death Penalty in Africa and on Indigenous Peoples and Populations in Africa. As his career indicates, the Chief Justice has a commitment to advancing human rights protection in Africa.
Chief Justice Malila’s lecture will concern the Challenges facing the Judiciary in Zambia.
