Welcome to the Law School

Congratulations on your acceptance to Trinity College Dublin. We are delighted you have chosen to come to us to continue with your studies. Though many of you are progressing directly from school, some of you will be returning to education after pursuing other activities in life. College studies will involve a transition for you all, you will need to adapt to a new approach to studying. Please rest assured there are a lot of supports available to help you make the transition into College life.

Orientation Week (18 - 22 September) should be seen as an important first step in this process. You will be invited to attend lectures and events that are designed to help you settle into the University. There will be plenty of opportunities to find out more about the many support services that the College offers throughout your journey with us. You will discover a rich variety of clubs and societies that can offer a welcome break from your studies and provide you with an opportunity to grow friendships outside the lecture/class rooms. Please make sure you consult the College’s Orientation website to find out all that is going on.

You will see from this page we have lined up some course specific events for you. We would urge you to come along to those relevant. The lectures will provide you with general information about the Law School, introduce you to your lecturers, tutors, students and tell you what to expect over the next 4 years. In addition, if you are reading for Law with a second subject, we will have a session with you to highlight important information about these degrees and awards.

We have also a number of informal tea/coffee meetings. This will give you an opportunity to meet each other, continuing students and staff members. Please check the relevant date and time for your meeting and come along and say hello. Your college experience doesn’t start and end with the classroom. Informal meetings like these and involvement with student societies can really make such a difference, they are worth making the effort to attend.

We look forward to meeting you all on 18 September 2023 and getting to know you all over the next 4 years.
