The Dual BA Programme between Trinity College Dublin and Columbia University offers students an international educational experience—a programme spanning two continents and cosmopolitan cities. The programme allows students to enhance their global outlook and develop their language skills and communication abilities to the highest possible level.
The objective of the European Studies Dual Degree programme is to achieve a high degree of linguistic competence, a firm intellectual grasp of several academic disciplines in the humanities, and a detailed understanding of the European past and present.
The Dual Degree is only open to Single Honours students. Joint Honours students cannot apply to the Dual Degree.
What you will study
Your first two years
In the first two years of the programme spent at Trinity, you will study and gain fluency in 2 European languages: French, German, Irish, Italian, Polish, Russian or Spanish. You will also study the history of ideas and the evolution of European thought, plus a choice of modules in history, political science, sociology, and economics.
Your final two years
The final two years of the programme in Columbia University allow you to define your own academic path and choose a major within the disciplines of the course including history, political science or a modern language. Students will remain registered for both universities for the duration of the programme and will graduate with two full degrees at the end of their final year.
