This year the Department of Economics at Trinity sponsored an award for the Economics of Housing and Regulation, which was won by James Dunne of Scoil Mhuire Gan Smal in Blarney, Cork. Drawing on evidence from Ireland and a number of European countries, the project examines how Airbnbs can reinforce upward trends in house prices. The winner of the overall competition was Mir Hasibullah Zia of Wexford CBS, who explored the timely issue of how multinational companies impact the Irish economy.
