The National Economic Dialogue is held each year to provide a valuable forum for open and inclusive discussion among stakeholders on the key economic and social priorities facing Government.

The Minister for Finance, Paschal Donohoe T.D. and the Minister for Department of Public Expenditure Infrastructure Public Service Reform and Digitalisation, Jack Chambers T.D. hosted the Dialogue this year. An Taoiseach, Micheál Martin T.D. gave an opening address and Tánaiste Simon Harris T.D. delivered a keynote speech.

Professor Carol Newman chaired the event. Speaking to her afterwards, Professor Newman said:
"It was an honour to once again Chair the National Economic Dialogue. The focus of this year’s Dialogue was on the implications of fundamental changes to the global economy for Ireland over the coming years, and how best the State can prepare in the medium-term. It was a day marked by serious engagement, diverse perspectives, and a shared commitment to shaping a more inclusive and resilient economy. The Dialogue plays a vital role in the budgetary process, providing a unique space for stakeholders from across society to engage directly with government on the economic and social choices that lie ahead."

Professor Eleanor Denny and Dr Barra Roantree from our Department also participated in the Dialogue. Dr Roantree was the rapporteur on the breakout session entitled "Infrastructure Investment: Prioritisation and Delivery". Professor Denny was the rapporteur for the breakout session on "Climate and Sustainability: Transitioning the Irish Economy".
