Maylis Avaro joins our department as Assistant Professor. Dr Avaro is focused on the economics of money and banking under the lens of history. She is interested in the international political economy of currencies and the actions of central banks in managing payment systems. She is excited to use economic history to answer policy-relevant questions on money and central banking with CEPH and IM-TCD. 

Jian Cao joins our department as Assistant Professor. Dr Cao received his PhD in Economics from Florida State University. He specialises in Econometrics, Political Methodology and Computational Social Science. His research focuses on comparative case studies, multiple imputation, and ensuring election integrity. He develops advanced methodologies to analyse large datasets in economics and political science. 

Niamh Wylie joins our department as Assistant Professor. Dr Wylie was formerly a lecturer in Derivatives and Econometrics at Trinity's Business School. She has a degree in Actuarial Mathematics and has worked for 16 years in financial markets in Dublin and London. Niamh has been a guest speaker, TA and lecturer in Trinity College since 2017. In 2024 she completed her PhD in Trinity's Business School, investigating the relationship between unconventional monetary policy and cryptocurrency. Her research interests include societal sentiment towards unconventional monetary policy, cryptocurrency and rebuilding public trust in central banks.
